beer mile relay run with runabout sports

saturday, August 31 - 1pm

The typical beer mile consists of running a mile on a quarter mile track and with each lap the participant must drink a full 12 oz. beer - drink a beer and run a lap (x4 ). The world record for this feat is 4:39:56. But even if you aren't a world class runner (or chugger) this event is tons of fun and will get you riled up and ready to cheer on elite cyclocross racers. While the riders take a break, join in on the fun with RunAbout Sports and Deschutes Brewery.

The Gist

  • What: Form a team of two to four members. The beer relay consists of four laps, each lap approximately a quarter mile. Each team, regardless of the number of team members, will run a total of four laps. You’ll chug a beer before you run your lap. Teams with fewer than four members will alternate laps (i.e. run a lap, sit out a lap, then run a lap).

  • Where: Fallon Park Cyclocross Course. Check-in will be held behind the Deschutes wooden bar. The course will be in the spectator in-field weaving next to the cyclocross course but not actually on it.

  • When: Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 1pm. Mandatory ID check at 12:45pm. The relay will take place immediately prior to the elite women’s and men’s cyclocross races.

  • Why: Cause you love running, beer, and bikes.

  • Who: Open to the public so bring all your friends. Even if you’ve already raced on your bike, think of this as your post-race cool down. Must register online in advance, or onsite from 11:00am-12:30pm.
